Designed for the luggage a gentleman keeps close: a weekend bag, cabin case, briefcase or Warrant, accompanying its owner through airports, hotels, railway stations and whatever lies beyond them.
Because good luggage deserves better than a paper label.
IDENTIFIED PROPERLY
There is no plastic window. No paper
insert. And no business card required.
Instead, the owner's chosen contact details are individually laser etched directly onto the leather, creating a permanent identification that becomes part of the piece itself.
Discreet, personal and rather less likely to fall out somewhere between Edinburgh and wherever happens to be next.
THE WAYFINDER
The name is borrowed from those who find the route.
Appropriate, we thought, for something destined to spend its life attached to luggage going somewhere.
It identifies where a piece belongs while quietly recording something of where it has been.
KEEP IT CLOSE
The Wayfinder is made from fine leather and is intended for luggage that travels with you.
We recommend attaching it to cabin luggage, weekend bags, briefcases and other pieces that remain close at hand rather than suitcases consigned to an aircraft hold and the less-than-gentle attentions of an airport baggage system.
It is made to travel.
It needn't be thrown about unnecessarily.

The Founders Issue Wayfinder combines Caledonian Whisky leather with the Holyrood Heather accent reserved exclusively for Founders Issue pieces.
A discreet mark of its place within the collection.
MADE PROPERLY
The Wayfinder is handcrafted by skilled artisans from vegetable-tanned leather chosen specifically for the character it develops through handling and travel.
With use, the leather will soften, deepen in tone and acquire the small marks of journeys taken.
These are not imperfections to be avoided, but part of the character the piece will develop over time.
RECORDED BY THE HOUSE

Only twenty Founders Issue Wayfinders will be made. Each is individually numbered, giving every piece its own identity within the collection.
The unique Founders Issue code is stamped discreetly onto the piece itself and recorded on its accompanying Certificate of Authenticity.

The same number is recorded in the Balfour Cairns House Register alongside the year of issue and original Registered Owner, establishing a permanent record of the piece's provenance.
Once FI.08.20 has been issued, the Founders Issue Wayfinder is closed.
It will not be repeated.
